Constant current laser driver ATLS6A201D

Constant current laser driver ATLS6A201D is a kind of electronic modules designed for driving laser diode with up to 6A constant current, as shown in the Figure 1. This laser driver has high efficiency, low noise, high reliability, zero EMI, small package and some other advantages. There are many functions as follows: laser current control and monitoring, over temperature protection, great loop indication, laser diode status indication, soft start and shut down. What’s more, this laser driver comes with 2.5V reference voltage with high stability and low noise, which can be used as the reference of ADCs and DACs. 2.5V reference can set the output current by setting the voltage of LIS.

Evaluation board for laser driver ATLS201B

Laser driver ATLS201D designed for driving laser diode has high efficiency (more than 90%), low noise, high reliability, zero EMI, small package and some other advantages. Laser driver ATLS201D series include ATLS2A201D, ATLS3A201D,ATLS4A201D and ATLS6A201D. They can be plugged in an evaluation board ATLSXA201DEV1.0, as shown in the Figure 1.

By using ATLSXA201DEV1.0, it is more convenient for customers to use laser drivers. This evluation board made of a complete application circuit can be utilized to set and monitor the output current and there is an LED indicating drving status. Temperature window TEC controller

Temperature window TEC controller is an electronic module with small package, which is designed for driving thermoelectric coolers (TECs) with high energy efficiency, high stability and zero EMI. This laser driver can stabilize temperature within pre-set temperature window range and it also provides interface ports for customers to set the desired object temperature (within 10 °C~ 40 °C), the maximum output temperature and compensation network.

ATW3A314D is a kind of temperature window controller, which has high efficiency, more than90%, as shown in the Figure 1. This type controller is designed for regulating the object temperature within the range of the pre-set temperature, so it can be used to monitor the actual object temperature.It is completely shielded, so there is no EMI. The switching frequency of this controller is synchronized to an external signal. There are two types of packages available for selection, DIP and SMT packages.

Dual mode laser driver

Laser driver placed in front of the optical emission is designed for biasing and modulating laser, i.e. it converts high speed voltage signal into high speed current signal to modulate laser. In order to meet different design requirements, our company (ATI) has released many kinds of laser drivers, such as ultra-low noise laser driver, high efficiency laser driver, dual mode laser driver and so on. LDA1-CP2 is an electronic module designed for driving N type laser diode, which has controllable driving current and laser output power. The power efficiency of PWM is 90%, and there is no need for heat sink. The output current and laser power can be set linearly by two separate input voltages, and at the same time, they can also accept the linear monitoring of the two voltages respectively. It comes with 2.5V reference voltage with high stability and low noise. The reference voltage can be utilized to set output current, and it can be also used as the reference voltage of ADC (analog to digital converter) and DAC (digital to analog converter). Because of being packaged in a six sided metal enclosure, LDA1-CP2 can be shielded completely and avoid the interferences between the driver and other electronics.

Evaluation board for TECA1-5V-5V-D

TECA1-5V-5V-D without internal compensation network is designed for driving thermoelectric cooler (TEC) with 2A ultra low noise current. When it is powered with 5V power supply, the output voltage is from 0V to 5V. In order to use TEC controller more easily, our company (ATI) has released an evaluation board TECEV104.
TECEV104 is made of a complete tuning and function circuit to drive TEC. Figure 1 is the physical photo of TECEV104. It not only can set the limit of output current and tune compensation network, but also set the internal temperature. It comes with an LED to indicate the temperature status of TEC.

TECA1-5V-5V-D is plugged in the center of the evaluation board. Pin voltages can be measured directly by probing connecting holes located on the left and right side of the module socket. Some of the pins can be connected with two holes on the evaluation board. The names of all the nodes are shown on the board. It is recommended to read this datasheet with the TECA1-5V-5V-D datasheet, so that it is more convenient to know the details about TEC controller module.

TEC controller TECA1-XV-XV-D

TEC controller is applied to drive TEC, which is used to heat and cool objects. Peltier controller TEC5V4A-D

TEC controller is widely applied in temperature control system these years. TEC controller is also called peltier controller, which can regulate the temperature of the thermal load, i.e. cool down or heat up, depending on the current direction through the two terminals of the TEC.

Multiple types of TEC controllers are provided in Analog Technologies, Inc. We are going to focus on one TEC controller,TEC5V4A-D It features high efficiency, higher than 90%. The maximum output current is 4A. With high reliability and stability, this TEC controller can drive TECs to regulate the object temperature.

There is a physical photo of this TEC controller in Figure 1. As we can see, it has a compact size: 20×25.6mm and 16 pins with different functions. The TEC controller is packaged in a 6 sided metal enclosure, which prevents the controller from interfering with other electronics.

This TEC controller has two compensation network versions; one is with internal compensation network and the other without it. The latter TEC controller can use an external compensation network, which is composed of two capacitors and three resistors.

How to improve the processing performance of thermoelectric cooler(Ⅱ)

3. Guarantee fixture clamping force, flatness and parallelism
From the reason for generating weld resistance, in order to reduce weld resistance, the size deviation of TEC element should be as small as possible. At the same time, the fixture clamping force should be moderate, the flatness should be less than 0.03mm, and the parallelism should be less than 0.05mm. When soldering, spring pressure should be changed into reed pressure in order to ensure that pressures of two ends are same.

4. Optimizing weld process
During welding, it needs to ensure that temperature field is uniform. After meeting the welding requirements, solder melting time should be reduced as far as possible to decrease thermal shock. In order to reduce the temperature stress caused by shrinkage, cooling curve should be properly optimized.

5. Reducing the amount of solder
Based on meeting the requirements of weld strength and weld resistance, the amount of solder should be reduced as far as possible.
